Rhythm & Zils
NOT CURRENTLY OFFERED.
Tribal Beats Studio
2009 Porterfield Way #K, Upland, CA.

This 6-class series is designed to strengthen our musicality and our zill skills. We will learn to identify the Middle Eastern drum rhythms often used in the music for American Tribal Style® belly dance. This will help us understand our music and so we can dance within its phrasings. I'll play the drum; all you need is your hands and zils.
We will  also learn and drill all the zill patterns used in ATS®: 3's (Longa), Alternating, Military, Beledi, Moroccan Six and Six Plus. To enhance our zill skills, we will practice zilling to fast music. We'll also practice dancing while zilling these patterns-- a necessary skill for dancing in chorus. Get ready for brain burn!
Rhythm & Zils is suitable for students of all levels, but beginners wishing to enroll should also be enrolled in Level 1: Dance Fundamentals, to learn the basic steps.
